When It's Broken
THOUGHT QUESTIONS:
1) What factors motivated the Israelites to ask Aaron to make a golden calf?
2) Was God serious about disowning the Israelites or was there some other reason that caused Him to think about destroying them and removing His presence from them? Is it within God’s nature to do those things?
3) What motivated Moses to be persistent in his intercession on behalf of the Israelites?
PERSONAL APPLICATION:
1) In what ways can you identify, or not, with the ancient Israelites and their desire for a golden calf?
2) How would you advise a brother or sister in Christ about overcoming the characteristics of our fallen nature that tend to move us toward breaking fellowship with God or the expectations of the new covenant? (love God, love people)
3) Ref. Exodus 33:14, what does God’s decision to go with the Israelites on their journey to the promised land say to you about His nature? What are the implications for your life?
